Kabras Sugar Rally Past Menengai Oilers to Win 2026 Dala 7s Titl
Kabras Sugar staged a superb second-half comeback to defeat Menengai Oilers 19-5 and lift the 2026 Dala 7s Cup title at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu.
The final began with both sides testing each other’s defence in a tightly contested opening. Menengai Oilers enjoyed the better share of possession, patiently building phases as they searched for an opening.
Beldad Ogeta repeatedly charged at the Kabras defensive line, but the Sugarmen’s defence held firm, denying the hard-running forward any breakthrough.
At the opposite end, Rayvon Ambale burst down the right wing and looked destined to score, only for a resolute Oilers defence to stop him just short of the try line.
The Oilers’ dominance in possession eventually paid off. A slick passing move saw Daniel Kipchirchir release John Okoth, who crossed over for the opening try. The conversion drifted wide as Menengai took a deserved 5-0 lead into the halftime break.
Kabras emerged from the restart with renewed purpose, piling pressure on the Oilers’ defence. Their persistence was rewarded when Jackson Sketa produced a brilliant offload to Rayvon Ambale, who raced over to level the scores at 5-5. The conversion was missed.
The turning point came moments later when Menengai’s Calvin Mulewa was shown a yellow card for a high tackle, reducing the Oilers to six men.
Kabras immediately made their numerical advantage count. Marvin Ashiundu crashed over for the Sugarmen’s second try, with the successful conversion handing them a 12-5 lead.
As the clock wound down, Fredrick Wangila put the contest beyond doubt, finishing off another well-worked move before the conversion sailed through the posts to stretch the lead to 19-5.
The final whistle confirmed Kabras Sugar as the 2026 Dala 7s champions, with the Sugarmen producing a clinical second-half display to overturn a halftime deficit and claim the Kisumu crown.
