Mwamba RFC, Impala RFC and Kiambaa got their Embu 7s women’s campaign off to a flying start after recording convincing victories in the opening round of the tournament on Saturday at Embu stadium and Kangaru girls.
Mwamba RFC produced one of the biggest statements of the opening round, cruising to a 39-0 victory over NYS Ladies in the first fixture of the day dominating proceedings from the onset and maintaining control throughout the contest to secure a comfortable win and signal their intentions at the fifth leg of the 2026 SportPesa 7s Series.
Impala RFC were equally ruthless, running out 58-0 winners against hosts Meru Ladies in another one-sided encounter. The result handed Impala maximum confidence as they began their campaign on a high.
Kiambaa were the other big winners of the opening round, dispatching Tharaka Nithi 66-0.
Kenya Harlequin were handed a 28-0 walkover against Northern Suburbs after their opponents failed to turn up for the fixture.
The Embu 7s is the fifth leg of the 2026 SportPesa 7s Series, with teams battling for crucial points as the national circuit enters the business end of the season.
