Menengai Oilers are the 2026 Christie 7s winners after overcoming Strathmore Leos 24-12 in a thrilling final at RFUEA Grounds.
Collins Maina gave Strathmore an early lead with a try in the far corner, but the conversion sailed wide for the students to take a 5-0 lead.
Menengai responded almost immediately through Veron Kaburu, who crossed for their opening try. The conversion was unsuccessful as the scores remain level at 5-5. Glacious Owino Nganya then put Oilers ahead with an electric run before adding the conversion himself to give Menengai a 12-5 lead at halftime.
New kid Paul Mutsami extended Oilers’ advantage immediately after the restart, with Owino converting for a 19-5 lead. Chrispin Shitundo added another try as Menengai continued to dominate and moved within sight of victory.
Strathmore managed a late consolation through Amon Wamalwa, who scored a converted try just before the final whistle, but the Oilers held on for a 24-12 victory.
