KCB Rugby are the 2026 Embu 7s winners after beating Kabras RFC to a narrow 12-10 victory at Embu Stadium on Sunday.
The victory strengthened KCB’s position at the top of the National 7s Circuit standings, with the bankers opening a six-point lead over defending rivals Kabras heading into the final leg of the campaign.
KCB have now won three of the five legs played so far, claiming the Prinsloo 7s, Kabeberi 7s and Embu 7s titles.
Captain Vincent Onyala led by example to put KCB in front after crossing for the opening try, with Austin Sikutwa converting to give the bankers a 7-0 advantage.
Kabras responded through Kenya U20 international Mike Lukusi, who touched down for an unconverted try to reduce the deficit to 7-5 after Rayvon Ambale missed the conversion.
KCB restored their cushion when Emmanuel Opondo scored their second try of the final, taking the score to 12-5.
Kabras refused to surrender and mounted a late comeback when Griffin Chao pounced on a loose ball and dived over the line to cut KCB’s lead to 12-10.
The bankers, however, held their nerve in the closing moments to secure another important victory and move closer to finishing the National 7s Circuit campaign on top.
In the women’s category, Kenya Harlequin made history by defeating a determined Kiambaa Ladies side 14-0 to win the Embu 7s title.
The triumph marked Quins’ first-ever National 7s Circuit women’s title, adding another milestone to their growing campaign.
Mean Machine claimed the Division Two title after beating Northern Suburbs 22-10. The victory earned Mean Machine promotion to Division One for the Christie 7s, which will serve as the final leg of the National 7s Circuit.
