Kenya Lionesses have named a 20-player provisional squad for the upcoming Safari Sevens tournament set for October 9-11 at Nyayo national stadium.
Mwamba RFC captain Faith Livoi headlines the forwards after her impressive showing at the Christie Sevens, where she helped her side clinch the title and the overall National Sevens Circuit crown.
The forward pack features NYS’ Charity Nilla, Impala’s Nelly Chikombe, Mwamba duo Naomi Amuguni and Maureen Chebet, alongside Kenya Harlequins pair Sheila Chajira and Yvette Okech. Diana Awino completes the hooker options.
Livoi is joined in the power-prop department by Impala’s Stella Wafula and Harlequins duo Phoebe Otieno and Angel Salamba.
In the half-back positions, Impala’s Judith Auma, Mwamba’s Edith Nariaka and Beatrice Osimbo, together with Harlequins’ Maxine Abuga, have earned selection.
Mwamba’s Sinaida Mokaya and Racing 92’s Grace Okulu provide the fly-half options, while Harlequins duo Moreen Muritu and Marvel Oswago are listed as centres.
The squad’s wing options include Harlequins’ Freshia Oduor and Mwamba pair Janet Okello and Tracey Montex.
The provisional squad is expected to undergo preparations ahead of Safari Sevens as the Lionesses continue building towards the tournament.
The selection comes after the conclusion of the 2026 National Sevens Circuit, with Mwamba emerging as overall women’s champions following their Christie Sevens triumph.
The Safari Sevens tournament will provide the Lionesses with another opportunity to assess their squad and build momentum ahead of upcoming international assignments.
