KCB Rugby and Menengai Oilers booked their places in the Main Cup semifinals of the 60th Christie 7s after impressive quarterfinal victories at the RFUEA Grounds on Sunday.
Defending champions KCB produced a spirited performance to beat NYS Spades 31-5 to keep their title defence firmly on course.
They will face Strathmore Leos in the semifinals after the university side edged Daystar 15-14 in a closely contested quarterfinal.
Kabras Sugar also secured their place in the last four following a 24-12 victory over invitational side Club Afrique.
The Kakamega-based side will meet Menengai Oilers in the other semifinal after Oilers overcame Mwamba RFC 28-21 in a dramatic encounter. Kulabu took an early 14-0 lead in the first half but Oilers kept pushing.
The Oilers and Mwamba traded tries throughout the match, but the Nakuru-based side held their nerve in the closing stages to seal their semifinal berth.
The results set up two highly anticipated semifinal clashes, with KCB taking on Strathmore while Menengai Oilers face Kabras Sugar.
The Christie 7s, which is celebrating its 60th edition, is the final leg of the 2026 SportPesa 7s circuit and has attracted some of Kenya’s leading rugby sevens sides.
With the title race reaching its business end, attention now turns to the semifinals as the four remaining teams battle for a place in the Main Cup final.
