Heathens unveil AS Sports Africa as Official Kit Partner ahead of Kyadondo 7s

Heathens RFC have unveiled AS Sports Africa as their Official Kit Partner, with the sportswear brand supplying the Ugandan rugby giants with a new playing kit and rugby balls for the upcoming Kyadondo 7s.

The Kyadondo 7s, set for August 22–23 at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, was officially launched on Wednesday and will bring together some of Uganda’s leading men’s and women’s sevens teams.

The new Heathens kit maintains the club’s traditional yellow and blue colours while introducing a modern design. The predominantly bright-yellow jersey features royal-blue detailing across the shoulders, collar and sleeves, complemented by patterned blue shoulder panels and sweeping graphics across the lower front.

The Heathens crest and AS Sports Africa logo feature on the upper chest, while principal shirt sponsor Platinum Credit takes pride of place at the centre of the jersey. Matching yellow shorts with blue detailing and yellow socks with a royal-blue band complete the playing kit.

The partnership further strengthens AS Sports Africa’s growing presence in East African rugby. The company has previously supplied kits to Uganda U20, Jinja Hippos Rugby Club, Nile Rapids RFC and Mbale RFC.

As Official Kit Partner, AS Sports Africa will have a prominent presence at the Kyadondo 7s, with fans also able to purchase the new merchandise. The tournament will offer Player Edition jerseys, Fan Edition jerseys and themed Kyadondo 7s shirts through the Kyadondo Rugby Grounds Merchandise Shop and the MTN MoMo Marketplace.

Heathens RFC chairman Desire Derekford Mugumisa welcomed the partnership, urging the club’s supporters to support the brands supporting Heathens.

“AS Sports Africa keeps us true to our roots, while setting a trendy new benchmark for Ugandan rugby. Now I ask our Heathens fraternity to return that support. Choose the brands that choose us,” said Mugumisa.

The partnership gives AS Sports Africa another major platform to showcase its rugby apparel while strengthening its association with one of Uganda’s most recognisable rugby clubs ahead of the new sevens campaign.
