Kabras Hold Off Brave Pirates to Secure Sixth Enterprise Cup Crown

Kabras RFC overcame a spirited challenge from Uganda’s Black Pirates to secure their sixth Enterprise Cup crown in an intense final decided on both early dominance and second-half resilience.

Derrick Ashiundu set the tone just three minutes into the contest, finishing off a sharp move from Dukisa to open the scoring. Dukisa, however, missed the conversion for a 5-0 lead. Black Pirates responded well, leveling matters through a converted try by Alex Aturinda 5-7. George Nyambua then powered over from a maul to restore Kabras’ lead, but Dukisa again missed the extras, making it 10-7. Nyambua struck once more before halftime, with Kabras heading into the break firmly in control at 15-7 despite another missed conversion.

On resumption, Kabras came out firing. Patrick Lumumba sliced through the Pirates defence for a brilliant try, though Eric Cantona was unable to add the conversion, extending the lead to 20-7. Ashiundu then completed his brace with an electric finish in the corner, but again the conversion attempt went wide as Kabras moved further ahead at 25-7.

The match shifted after Kabras were reduced to 14 men when Hillary Odhiambo was sent to the sin bin for an offside tackle. Black Pirates capitalised immediately, with Allan Karuhanga crossing over to reduce the deficit to 25-12.

Despite the late pressure, Kabras held firm to seal victory and lift yet another Enterprise Cup title. Eugene Sifuna was named Player of the Final for his outstanding performance.
