Defending champions Kabras Sugar have named a powerful squad as they look to retain their Enterprise Cup crown against Uganda’s Stanbic Black Pirates in Saturday’s final at the RFUEA Grounds from 3PM.
Head coach Carlos Katywa has retained the core of the side that has dominated Kenyan rugby in recent seasons, with Eric Cantona starting at fullback. Mathias Osimbo and veteran Derrick Ashiundu will man the wings for the millers.
Ntabeni Dukisa will pull the strings at fly-half, partnering scrum-half Roy Maruti in a halfback combination expected to dictate the tempo of the contest. In midfield, Katywa has tasked Walter Okoth and Bryceson Adaka, while the pack is led by experienced campaigners George Nyambua, Collins Indeche and Patrick Lumumba in the back row.
The front row of Edward Mwaura, Eugene Sifuna and Ephraim Oduor will be tasked with laying a solid platform, while Hillary Odhiambo joins captain George Nyambua in the second row.
Kabras also boast significant firepower from the bench, with the likes of Teddy Akala, Emmanuel Otieno, Michael Lukusi and Griffin Chao available to make an impact in the latter stages.
The Sugarmen enter the final as favourites, but face a Black Pirates side that has already upset several Kenyan teams inform of KCB and Nondies on their route to the championship match. With silverware on the line and regional bragging rights at stake, Kabras will be aiming to once again prove why they remain the dominant force in East African club rugby.
