After announcing their 13-man travelling squad for the Dala 7s, Kakamega based MMUST RFC will head to Kisumu full of confidence following an encouraging display at the opening leg of the 2026 National Sevens Circuit, the Prinsloo 7s.
The versity outfit proved they can compete with the country’s top sevens teams, producing disciplined performances. Their campaign included a memorable 19-14 victory over Strathmore Leos in the pool stages.
Although they fell short of reaching the final rounds, MMUST left Nakuru with valuable circuit points and plenty of positives to build on ahead of the second leg.
Head coach John Asila has retained a balanced squad for the trip to Kisumu. Captain Darius Kipsang will lead the side, with key players such as Bevon Okoth, Emmanuel Sakwa, Donald Litali, Cyrus Toroitich and Flavian Otiyo expected to play crucial roles.
The travelling squad also includes Clarence Hope, Alwine Kwemoi, Tyson Juma, Job Otieno, Kirwa Desmond, Musa Mugandi and Moses Bulemi.
With momentum on their side, MMUST will be looking to turn their promising Prinsloo performance into an even stronger showing at the Dala 7s. The lakeside tournament presents another opportunity for the university side to climb the National Sevens Circuit standings while continuing to establish themselves among Kenya’s emerging rugby powerhouses.
As the action shifts to Kisumu, MMUST will be aiming to maintain their upward trajectory and challenge for a place in the business end of the competition.
