National Youth Service (NYS)spades rugby team head coach Martin Munga says his charges are eager to make their mark when they kick off their 2026 National Sevens Circuit campaign at the Prinsloo 7s in Nakuru this weekend.
The KRU championship outfit have been handed a difficult assignment after being drawn in Pool C alongside defending National Sevens Circuit champions KCB Rugby, Nondescripts RFC and CUEA Monks in what is their maiden division one appearance in the local sevens circuit.

Despite the challenging pool, Munga remains optimistic, saying the team is grateful for the opportunity to compete against some of the country’s best sides.
“We thank God. The boys are definitely excited and ready to play on the big stage,” Munga told Two5Four Rugby.
The tactician noted that his side will approach the tournament one match at a time as they seek to make a positive impression in the season opener.
“We will take it a game at a time,” he said.
Munga believes a good start in every fixture will be critical if NYS are to challenge the experienced teams in their pool.
“It will be key for us to settle in early enough in the game and execute our game plans with cool heads.”

The Prinsloo 7s marks the opening leg of the 2026 National Sevens Circuit, with NYS looking to announce themselves against three established opponents. A strong performance in Nakuru would provide the perfect platform as they aim to build momentum for the rest of the circuit.
