Madira, Vihiga Headline Semifinal Cast at Vihiga County Sevens

The semifinal line-up for the 2026 KSSSA Vihiga County Secondary Schools Rugby Sevens Championship has been confirmed following two days of action at Ebunangwe Technical Training Institute.

Defending county giants Vihiga High School will face Mbale Boys in one semifinal, while Senende Boys take on Nyang’ori Boys in the battle for a place in the boys’ final.

Vihiga High School have looked unstoppable throughout the competition, opening their campaign with a 54-0 victory over Ebubayi before seeing off Magui 24-0 and Esalwa 45-0 in the pool stages. They maintained their impressive form in the quarterfinals, brushing aside Chavakali 38-7 to book their semifinal slot.

Mbale Boys progressed after overcoming Emusire 14-10 in a tightly contested quarterfinal. The side had earlier defeated Bugina 28-7 and shared a goalless draw with Bugina in their final pool match.

Senende Boys also impressed on their way to the last four. They opened with a 43-0 victory over Bugina before beating Mbale 28-7. In the quarterfinals, they edged out Kegoye 19-7 to secure a semifinal date with Nyang’ori.

Nyang’ori have emerged as one of the tournament’s surprise packages. They stunned Chavakali 21-15 in the pool stages before defeating Ebusiloli 17-10 and dismantling Magui 33-0 in the quarterfinals.

Girls Semifinalists Confirmed

In the girls’ category, Defending champions Madira Girls will face Kaimosi Girls while Tigoi Girls take on Mudavadi Girls in the semifinals.

Madira have been the standout side of the tournament, recording emphatic wins over Kaptik (50-0), Vokoli (29-0) and Idavaga (27-0) in the quarterfinals without conceding a point.

Kaimosi Girls cruised through their matches with victories over Goibei (17-0), Kisangula (24-0) and a massive 58-0 quarterfinal triumph over Kisangula.

Tigoi Girls topped their pool after defeating Idavaga 26-7 and later edged Mudavadi 17-5 before overpowering Vokoli 40-7 in the quarterfinals.

Mudavadi Girls booked their semifinal berth courtesy of wins over Idavaga (31-0) and Goibei (21-0) in the quarterfinals.
