Impala RFC confirms dates for 43rd Floodlit Rugby Tournament

Impala RFC has officially announced the dates for the 43rd edition of the prestigious Impala Floodlit Rugby Tournament, with this year’s competition set to take place on October 17, 24 and 31, 2026 at the Impala Grounds on Ngong Road, Nairobi.

The annual knockout tournament, popularly known as the Floodies, remains one of Kenya’s most iconic rugby competitions, traditionally ushering clubs into the new domestic season under the floodlights.

Defending champions Menengai Oilers will be aiming to retain the title after lifting the 2025 crown in impressive fashion. The Nakuru-based side successfully defended their championship by defeating Nondescripts RFC 32-20 in the final.

The victory marked back-to-back Floodlit titles for Oilers, who have established themselves as one of the country’s top clubs in recent seasons. Their triumph over Nondies capped off another commanding campaign and reaffirmed their status as one of the favourites heading into the new season.

The tournament has historically attracted the country’s top rugby clubs and provides teams with a crucial opportunity to test new signings, integrate fresh talent and fine-tune combinations ahead of the Kenya Cup season.

With the dates now confirmed, attention will shift to the tournament draw and participating teams as clubs begin preparations for another month of high-intensity rugby under the lights at Impala Grounds. Fans can expect three weekends of thrilling action as teams battle for one of Kenya’s most coveted pre-season honours.
