Immediate former Kenya cup side Kisumu RFC have unveiled their new coaching team ahead of the 2026/2027 campaign, with former Nakuru RFC player Simon Wariuki appointed as Head Coach and Allan Kasiti taking up the role of Assistant Head Coach.
The appointments signal the club’s ambitions for the new season as the lake based outfit target a top two finish in the KRU Championship after being relegated from top tier Kenya cup league last season while also aiming to improve their performances in the national sevens circuit.
In a statement released by the club, the new technical bench was described as a blend of experience, passion and winning mentality, qualities the side hopes will help shape a tougher, fitter and more disciplined squad.
Wariuki joins the Kisumu-based side with a strong rugby background, having previously featured for Nakuru RFC during his playing days. His understanding of Kenyan rugby and leadership experience are expected to be central to the club’s rebuilding process ahead of the new campaign.
Kasiti, on the other hand, arrives with vast coaching experience across western Kenya rugby circles. He has previously coached Western Bulls and Sigalagala National Polytechnic RFC, and is currently involved with the rugby program at Mukumu Boys High School.
Known for his emphasis on discipline and player development, Kasiti is expected to strengthen the squad’s structure both on and off the pitch as Kisumu RFC seek consistency in their performances.
The club has already outlined clear objectives for the upcoming season, with immediate focus shifting towards preparations, player conditioning and building a competitive squad capable of challenging for promotion places.
With preseason preparations expected to begin immediately, attention now turns to how the new technical bench will shape Kisumu RFC ahead of what promises to be a highly competitive 2026/2027 season.
