South Coast Pirates head coach Tony Khadambi has confirmed his traveling squad to Kakamega ahead of their long-awaited first competitive fixture of the 2025/26 KRU Championship season against Western Bulls at the Bull Ring.
Pirates were denied an early start to their campaign after their opening-round clash against Kisii RFC was postponed, making Saturday’s match their true kickoff to the new season.
Khadambi has shown bold intent, naming all three Ugandan imports Alphonse Otieno, Titus Wanyangu, and Robin Odrua in the starting lineup. The trio, unveiled on Thursday, are set to make their debuts immediately after crossing over from Uganda as the club looks to begin the campaign with momentum.
Their inclusion marks a significant moment for Pirates, who head into the season with one of their most refreshed and youthful squads in recent years. The match will also see several other new recruits earn their first outing in Pirates colours.
Captain Charles Tendwa will lead from the midfield where he pairs up with Joseph Musyoki, while co-captain Ibrahim Nyongesa anchors the forward pack from number eight.
At the back, Abdul Mwaleso starts at fullback, with the wings being handled by Kenneth Omaset and debutant Robin Odrua.
The half-back pairing sees long-serving scrum-half Ali Rashid combine with debutant fly-half Titus Wanyangu in the control room.
In the engine room, Chipu international John Asega partners debutant Alphonse Otieno at locks.
Up front, Sadala Mohammed starts, with debutant Paul Siringiti at hooker and Abdallah Mohammed at tighthead prop. The flank positions are taken by debutants Paul Angura and Farid Musa, adding more new energy to the matchday squad.
Khadambi has also named a youthful bench featuring Samuel Kalema (debutant), Cedric Odhiambo, Sospeter Rofino, and Anthony Abonyo, giving the Pirates even more fresh legs.
