World Rugby has launched the 2026 Women in Rugby Careers Programme, reinforcing its commitment to creating stronger leadership and career development pathways for women across the sport.
Building on the success of the 2025 pilot under the Impact Beyond legacy initiative, the expanded programme aims to support even more women working or volunteering within the rugby ecosystem.
Applications are now open for the 2026 edition, which will feature seven interactive virtual webinars scheduled between April and November.
These sessions will focus on practical career-building tools, personal development, and confidence-enhancing skills. Designed for women already involved in the game, the programme will help participants strengthen professional networks, expand their leadership capabilities and prepare for elevated roles both on and off the field.
With up to 250 places available, World Rugby has created an open global application process to ensure broad international representation.
The 2025 pilot supported more than 100 women from 56 countries, and the 2026 programme aims to further widen that reach as the sport continues prioritizing gender equity and leadership diversity.
World Rugby Chief of Women’s Rugby, Sally Horrox, highlighted the importance of the initiative, saying the programme plays a vital role in building confidence, skills and networks that empower women to grow within the sport.
She emphasized that developing strong pathways is essential to providing equal opportunities across rugby.
To be eligible, applicants must be women currently working or volunteering in rugby with at least two to three years of experience and a demonstrated commitment to advancing their careers.
The programme promises an inclusive learning environment, access to global experts and meaningful peer-to-peer engagement within the wider rugby community.
