The defending champions stormed into the quarterfinals with a commanding win in Brighton. Teenager Braxton Sorensen-McGee scored a hat-trick, with Stacey Waaka, Chryss Viliko, and Maia Joseph also crossing. The Black Ferns will face debutants South Africa next.
France 57–10 South Africa
Scrumhalf Pauline Bourdon Sansus starred again as France ran in 10 tries, including braces for Emilie Boulard and Joanna Grisez. South Africa managed a late solo try from Nadine Roos but were outclassed. France will meet Ireland in the last eight.
Japan 29–21 Spain
Japan secured their first pool-stage win since 1994, overturning a halftime deficit with four second-half tries. Spain finished a World Cup winless for the first time.
Italy 64–3 Brazil
Italy set a new World Cup scoring record with 12 tries, led by hat-tricks from Vittoria Ostuni Minuzzi and Francesca Granzotto.
