Winam, Sigalagala, and ROR Shine as Minto 7s Gets Underway

Defending champions MMUST celebrating winning 2023 Minto 7s.

The 2025 Minto 7s got off to an exciting start yesterday at Gusii stadium,Kisii county, with intense matches.

In Round 1, Winam edged out Kisii University 14-12 in a closely fought match, while Keroka managed to narrowly defeat Kisumu RFC 19-14. Sigalagala showed their strength with a 33-7 victory over Rongo, while Kisii RFC defeated neighbours Kisii Poly 19-12 in a hard-fought local derby. Rugby on the road (ROR) were in fine form, crushing Kisii Kifaru 45-0, while Oyugis held their nerve to beat NY Homeboyz 14-12 in a nail-biting finish.

Round 2 saw some exciting comebacks and more thrilling rugby. Kisii University bounced back from their loss to Winam with a solid 14-5 win over Keroka. Kisumu RFC and Winam ended in a 7-7 draw, while Sigalagala continued their good run, defeating Kisii Poly 28-17. Kisii RFC showed their dominance, beating Rongo RFC 26-7. ROR didn’t let up, securing a 48-0 win over Oyugis, and Kisii Kifaru powered past NY Homeboyz 21-5.

The Quarter final fixture wull see Spikers face Kisumu RFC, ROR takes on Sigalagala, Winam battle it out with Kisii university and the last fixture will be between Kisii RFC and Kisii kifaru at the same venue today.
