Head Coach Kevin Wambua has named the Morans side to this weekend’s Zambezi Sevens set for Harare, Zimbabwe. The squad, a blend of emerging and established sevens talent, will represent Kenya in the annual tournament as part of the national team’s wider development program.
Captain John Okoth leads a group that includes experienced hands Denis Abukuse, Chrisant Ojwang, Brian Mutua and Floyd Wabwire as well as emerging talent in the form of Clinton Amukwachi, Gabriel Ayimba, David Nyangige, Rayvon Amunga, Jackson Siketi, Daniel Kipchirchir and Victor Odhiambo.
Wambua expressed confidence in his charges ahead of their departure, noting that the tournament offers a valuable opportunity for players to gain competitive experience on the international stage. “We have assembled a quality squad with a blend of skill, energy, and hunger to compete. This is an important step for these players as we continue strengthening the pipeline for the national sevens program. We believe they are ready to represent the country with pride and deliver excellent performances,” he said.
On the Morans’ participation, Wambua added, “The Morans’ participation underscores the Kenya Rugby Union’s continued focus on building depth and nurturing future stars for the national sevens team.”
The Morans have been placed in Pool B, where they will face Pitbulls and Old Hararians. The tournament promises to offer valuable experience for the emerging talents as Kenya continues to build depth and continuity within its sevens structures.
