Walukuba Barbarians Poised for Uganda Sevens Glory

The 2025 Uganda Rugby Sevens Series concludes this weekend at Kampala’s Kyadondo Rugby Club with the Buffaloes 7s on 27–28 September. Leaders Walukuba Barbarians are on the cusp of claiming the overall title.

After six rounds, Leo Lubambula’s side sits atop the standings with 116 points, nine clear of hosts Buffaloes on 107.

The two sides faced off last weekend at the Kabale 7s, with Buffaloes claiming a 19–12 victory, keeping the title race finely poised ahead of the season’s final tournament. Heathens (95 points) and Black Pirates (90 points) complete the top four.

Walukuba Barbarians headline Pool B at Kyadondo, where they will face Eagles, Entebbe Mongers, and Jaguars.

Anything less than a top-six finish could end their hopes of being crowned Uganda’s club sevens champions in 2025.

Hosts Buffaloes lead Pool A alongside Jinja Hippos, Kobs, and Mukono Hawks. Heathens compete in Pool C against Rhinos, Rams, and Kyambogo, while Pool D features Black Pirates, Elgon Wolves, Gulu City Falcons, and South Sudanese side Juba Eagles.
