The Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) rugby competitions in Kakamega are heating up as teams battle for supremacy in both 15s and 7s categories.
In the boys’ 15s, Upper Hill School emerged top of Group A with 10 points, closely followed by Jinja and Vihiga who tied on 9 points each, with the Nairobi giants edging ahead on point difference. Namilyango of Uganda struggled to find rhythm and wrapped up the pool with a single point.
Group B saw All Saints dominate to finish top with 9 points, while Kisii School secured second place with 6 points. Kings College managed 5 points, leaving Busoga without a single win.
The girls’ sevens contest remains wide open, with Kenyan champions Kinale and Uganda’s Jinja SS tied on 9 points apiece after an impressive run in the group phase. St. Theresa settled for third place with 7 points, while title holders St. Josephs, Paul Harris, and Nkoma followed behind.
In the boys’ sevens, Western region outfit St. Peters Mumias lead the pack on 19 points, though Bungoma High are breathing down their necks with an equal tally. Bwake sit third on 15 points, while Makerere College are fourth with 12. Former champions Koyonzo and St. Mary’s Kisubi are mid-table, as London College Maya, Mbarara, and Gitisi anchor the standings.
All Saints will be eager to add another feather to their cap after winning the East Africa 15s last year.
The action resumes today, with crucial fixtures lined up including Bungoma vs Makerere, St. Mary’s Kisubi vs St. Peters Mumias, and the much-anticipated clash between Kinale and Jinja in the girls’ sevens.
