Uganda Rugby Union extends 2026 player transfer and registration deadline

The Uganda Rugby Union (URU) has announced an extension to the 2026 player transfer and registration deadline, giving clubs additional time to finalize their squads for the new season.

In a notice issued on Friday, 30 January 2026, URU confirmed that the deadline has been moved from 30 January to 4 February 2026 at 16:00hrs. The extension affects all processes related to player transfers, new registrations, and the submission of season squad lists. The decision aligns with the provisions set out in the 2026 Uganda Premiership Terms of Participation and the 2026 Season Activity Calendar.

Additionally, URU outlined guidelines for the mid-season transfer window. During this period, clubs will be permitted to recall players who are currently out on loan.

The mid-season window will run for 14 calendar days, opening immediately after the conclusion of the domestic XVs season and closing before the start of the domestic Sevens season.

The Union encouraged clubs with questions or clarification needs to reach out to the URU CEO or Chief Technical Officer via [technical@ugandarugbyunion.com](mailto:technical@ugandarugbyunion.com).

The notice was signed by Isaac Lutwama Nsubuga, Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Rugby Union.
