Three Changes for Pumas Ahead of Springbok Showdown

Argentina head coach Felipe Contepomi has confirmed his squad for Saturday’s Rugby Championship Round Five clash against South Africa at Kings Park, Durban.

Los Pumas make three changes to the line-up that edged Australia 28–26 in Sydney. Franco Molina replaces Guido Petti at lock, Lucas Paulos takes over from Pedro Rubiolo, and Pablo Matera returns to the back row in place of Juan González.

Contepomi has also opted for a six–two bench split in favor of forwards, with flyhalf Tomás Albornoz recalled to the matchday 23.

Both Argentina and South Africa sit on two wins and two losses, keeping the race for the Rugby Championship title wide open. The Pumas will look to draw inspiration from their historic 37–25 win in Durban back in 2015 — their first-ever victory over the Springboks. Their most recent triumph came in 2024 in Santiago del Estero, a tense 29–28 encounter that pushed the tournament down to the wire.
