Female supporters of the South Coast Pirates Rugby Club have stepped up in remarkable fashion, rallying together to raise 104,052 KSH to support the team ahead of the upcoming KRU Championship season.
The women, drawn from both the Coast region and Nairobi, mobilized themselves under the banner “The Sin-Bin Queens”, forming a united front at a time when the club faced uncertainty following the conclusion of Base Titanium’s sponsorship.
“As supporters of the SCP, we were concerned when Base Titanium’s sponsorship ended. The Pirates are more than just a rugby team ,this is a community. It’s a space that gives young people opportunities, mentorship, and a sense of belonging,” the group said in a joint statement.
A total of 28 women contributed to the initiative, underscoring the strength and importance of fan-driven support within community rugby structures. Their contribution comes at a pivotal moment, with the Pirates preparing to open their KRU Championship campaign with a home fixture against newly promoted Kisii RFC at the Seacrest Ground in Diani.
SC Pirates have also fortified their technical bench, securing the services of Coach Tony Khadambi, formerly of Jinja Hippos in Uganda, to steer their campaign as they seek to make a strong bid in the 2025/26 season.
With renewed community support both on and off the field, the Pirates will head into the new season with fresh momentum.
