Senende Secondary staged a strong second-half comeback to edge out Butula Boys 7-3 in a tightly contested Western Region KSSSA 15s rugby clash at Chavakali high school.
Butula drew first blood, slotting in a penalty to take a 3-0 lead and carry the advantage into the halftime break after a disciplined defensive display. However, Senende returned the stronger side in the second half, showing greater urgency and composure.
Their pressure finally paid off when Steve Gonzolo crossed the whitewash for a crucial try, shifting momentum in Senende’s favour. Brian Korir calmly added the extras, handing Senende a 7-3 lead they would hold onto until the final whistle.
Earlier in the day, Korir had already proven decisive for Senende, with his boot guiding them to a narrow 6-3 victory over Bokoli in another closely fought encounter.
Meanwhile, Kakamega School continued their impressive run with a 13-3 victory over Bungoma County representatives Bokoli high school. The win marked their second triumph of the day, having earlier secured a 12-0 win against Butula.
