SC Pirates Secure Triple Ugandan Signing for 2025 Season

Former Kenya Cup side South Coast Pirates have bolstered their squad with the addition of three players from Uganda as they continue their bid for promotion back to the top tier.

The new signings Alphonce Otieno, Bryan Titus Wanyangu, and Robin Phillip Odrua join the Diani-based club ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Lock forward Alphonce Otieno arrives from Uganda Cup side Walukuba Barbarians Rugby Club. Off the field, he is a graduate of Limkokwing University Uganda.

The Tony Khadambi-led side has also secured Bryan Titus Wanyangu, a 20-year-old fly-half from Elgon Wolves in Uganda. Wanyangu previously studied at Friends School Kamusinga and is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science at Moi University. His addition offers the Pirates another option in the No. 10 role.

Completing the trio is Robin Phillip Odrua, an outside back capable of covering wing or fullback. Odrua joins from Mongers Rugby Club, where he gained experience in backline positions that demand pace, awareness, and consistency. The 25-year-old is an alumnus of Hillside High School and the Institute of Survey and Land Management.

The arrival of the three Ugandan players highlights South Coast Pirates’ strategy of improving depth and creating competition across key positions. The club hopes that the blend of youth and experience will strengthen the squad as they prepare for their first match of the season against Western Bulls, following the postponement of last weekend’s scheduled clash with Kisii RFC.
