South Coast Pirates have named a strong matchday squad ahead of their KRU championship rescheduled fixture against Kisii RFC set for Saturday 7th at the seacrest grounds, Diani.
The match which was to be played in November 15th 2025 was pushed forward following a request from Kisii RFC who cited logistical challenges will now take place tomorrow with head coach Tony Khadambi rallying his charges to protect their home turf at Seacrest and keep their promotion ambitions on course.
The back three includes fleet-footed wingers Brian Maina and Burashi Hassan while on-form Robin Odrua features at full back, the midfield pairing of Joseph Musyoki and Cedric Odhiambo will be tasked with unlocking the Kisii defence. Anthony Abonyo pulls the strings at flyhalf alongside scrumhalf Ali Rashid.
Up front, Pirates have gone with a physical pack led by Phyligence Okoth at eighthman, supported by Farid Musa and James Ainea in the back row. Locks Anthony Morogo and Alphonse Otieno partner in the engine room, while the front row sees Timothy Osaji, Sospeter Rofino, and Abdhala Mohamed providing the platform.
Speaking to Two5four ahead of the clash, Khadambi emphasized the intent behind their week’s build-up.
“Our preparations this week have been very intentional because we know the kind of test Kisii RFC will bring. They are a good side and dangerous if you allow them momentum, so for us it has been about tightening the areas we felt dipped in our last outing while maintaining our attacking identity. Playing at home always comes with responsibility and pride, and the boys understand what it means to defend Seacrest.”
He added that Pirates have sharpened key areas in training as they look to be more ruthless.
“We’ve worked on discipline, decision-making, and being more clinical when we get into scoring positions because matches at this stage of the season are decided by small margins. The mood in camp is positive, the response in training has been strong, and we are approaching the game with the seriousness it deserves because we want to stay firmly in the promotion conversation.”
Khadambi also reflected on their narrow loss to JKUAT Cougars, a result he believes offered valuable lessons.
“Looking back at the JKUAT game, it was a tough one for us to take because we felt we controlled good periods of the match but failed to close it out. Credit to them, they were clinical when it mattered but from our end we identified lapses in concentration, especially in the final quarter, and moments where our game management needed to be better.”
Pirates will look to channel those lessons into a complete performance as they seek a vital home victory over a determined Kisii side.
