Diani-based KRU Championship outfit South Coast Pirates have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign with the acquisition of two players from TUM Marines, including utility back Brian Maina Alukhava and flanker Byron Omondi.

The duo, who are alumni of Shimba Hills High School and Ringa Boys High School respectively, will be eligible to feature for Pirates after the December transfer deadline. Two5four Sports understands that both players have already joined the rest of the squad in training under new head coach Tony Khadambi.

Speaking to Two5four after sealing the move, Alukhava expressed his excitement at joining the coastal giants.

“It feels great to be here. Pirates is a big team with ambition, and I am looking forward to contributing in the 13 and 14 positions. The environment is competitive, and that will only make me better as a player.”

Omondi, who operates as a flanker, echoed his teammate’s sentiments and vowed to give his all.

“I am grateful for this opportunity. Joining Pirates is a step forward in my career, and I want to work hard, fight for my place, and help the team achieve its goal of returning to the Kenya Cup.”

Pirates, relegated alongside Mwamba RFC last season, have been proactive in the transfer market as they look to bounce back immediately. The club recently confirmed the appointment of former Kenya Harlequin and Kenya international Tony Khadambi as head coach.

The Championship season kicks off on November 15th, with Pirates hosting newly promoted Kisii RFC at home in what is expected to be a fiery opener.
