Saint Peter’s Mumias emerged as the champions of the 2026 Musingu 15s rugby tournament with an 8-3 victory over Mukumu Boys in a final on Sunday.
Their dominance throughout the tournament was undeniable, as they capped off an impressive run with a well-deserved win in the final match in Mumias.
In the semifinals, Saint Peter’s Mumias dispatched Mbale Boys 14-3, while Mukumu Boys triumphed 5-0 over Musingu Boys to secure their spot in the final.
Throughout the pool stages, Saint Peter’s Mumias demonstrated their superiority, winning every match in fashion. They started with a 40-0 win over Kimilili and continued their dominant form with a 31-0 victory over Ambira. Mukumu Boys also impressed, winning big against Ringa and Mbale with 44-0 and 44-0 victories, respectively.
In the final, Saint Peter’s Mumias were clinical in their execution, with tries at crucial moments ensuring their victory. Mukumu Boys fought hard but were unable to break through the strong defense of the champions.
Allan Kasiti Musingu, the coach of Mukumu Boys speaking to Two5four media reflected on the game, saying:
