Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Rugby Team today took part in a comprehensive anti-doping training session held at the Golf Hotel in Kakamega.
The session, facilitated by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK), the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), and MMUST, aimed to sensitize players on the dangers of doping and the importance of maintaining integrity in sport.
Key areas covered during the training included the effects of doping on an individual’s health and career, the responsibilities of athletes under anti-doping regulations, and the serious repercussions that come with doping violations.
Over 70 MMUST rugby players participated in the session, reflecting the team’s commitment to clean sport and ethical competition.
MMUST Rugby expressed gratitude to ADAK for leading the informative workshop and to the Kenya Rugby Union for championing athlete education and welfare.
“We appreciate this initiative that empowers our young athletes with the knowledge and discipline needed to uphold the values of fair play,” the club said in a statement.
The team reaffirmed its dedication to partnering with like-minded organizations in future engagements aimed at developing responsible, informed, and clean athletes for the next generation of Kenyan rugby.
The exercise comes two weeks before the 2025/26 Kenya Cup season kicks off. Mmust will tomorrow play host to Kisumu RFC in a pre-season friendly match at the institution from 11am.
