KCB forward Anydcole Omollo is set to leave the club after two seasons, bringing an impressive chapter to a close as he prepares for a new opportunity in Japan. The club confirmed his departure in a statement released on Monday.

Omollo, a versatile forward who can feature in the second and back rows, has steadily risen through the ranks, joined the bankers from Masinde Muliro at the start of the 2023 24 season. Since then, he has grown into a reliable presence in the pack, combining physicality with a strong work rate that has not gone unnoticed.

His journey has seen him represent Kenya at junior level. He featured in the 2023 Barthes Under 20 Trophy in Nairobi, before playing a role in Kenya’s Barthes Under 20 Trophy triumph in 2024 in Harare,Zimbabwe. He was also on the Kenya squads that played at the World Rugby U20 Trophy in 2023 (Nairobi) and 2024 (Edinburgh)

Omollo earned his full Kenya debut during the 2024 Elgon Cup, where Kenya retained the title against Uganda. The Simbas secured a 48 – 30 aggregate victory, edging the first leg 27 – 25 in Nairobi before sealing the contest with a man of the match performance in the  Simbas 21 – 5 win in Kampala. It was a fitting introduction to senior international rugby for the Chavakali High School alumnus.

KCB confirmed that Omollo will head to Tenri University in Japan on an educational scholarship, where he will continue his studies while playing the game at a competitive level.

“We are delighted to announce that our very own Andy Cole Omollo will be heading to Tenri University in Japan on an educational scholarship, where he will further his studies while playing rugby at a high level,” the club said.

The club also paid tribute to Omollo’s contribution and reaffirmed its commitment to creating opportunities for players to grow both on and off the field.

“Biggy departs this Saturday, 28th, and as his club and rugby family, we wish him nothing but success in this exciting new chapter,” the statement added.
