Ombaso Yearning for More Points as He Tops Nakuru RFC Scoring Chart

Nakuru RFC’s young sensation flyhalf Cyprian Ombaso is proving to be the club’s man of the moment in this year’s National Sevens Circuit, topping the team’s points chart after just two legs.

The 21-year-old, who joined Wanyore from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) earlier this season, has already racked up 39 points, thanks to his lethal finishing and reliable boot. Ombaso has crossed the whitewash five times so far, twice during the Driftwood 7s in Mombasa and three times at the Prinsloo 7s in Nakuru.

Since making the switch to Nakuru, Ombaso seems to have found his rhythm, scoring at will and adding a touch of flair to the Wanyore attack. His standout moment came last weekend during Prinsloo 7s when he dotted down a decisive try against giants Kabras Sugar, helping Nakuru edge the sugar millers 12-10 in front of their home fans.

Speaking to Two5four, Ombaso expressed both gratitude and hunger for more success as the team heads to the Christie 7s this weekend.

“It feels great to be contributing to the team’s performance. Joining Nakuru has really boosted my confidence and I’m enjoying my rugby. Topping the scoring chart is good, but I’m aiming for more points in the coming legs. The focus now is on helping the team perform better at Christie 7s,” Ombaso said.

With four more legs to go in the circuit, Ombaso’s consistency will be vital for Nakuru’s ambitions, Wanyore finished 5th in last weekends’ Prinsloo 7s, his ssed his teammates performance has not only impressed his teammates and coaches but has also made him one of the players to watch in this year’s campaign.

Nakuru RFC will be looking to build on their recent performances when they take to the pitch at the Christie 7s in Nairobi.
