Kenya’s second-string national sevens side, Morans, has named a youthful 13-man squad for the 2025 Safari Sevens, set for 10th–12th October at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The team will be captained by Menengai Oilers centre John Okoth, one of the few experienced heads in a squad that features several new faces eager to impress on home soil this weekend.
The squad features Kabras RFC’s Brian Mutua and KCB’s Elvis Olukusi, who bring athleticism and speed to the backline, while Barnabas Owuor adds balance and defensive stability. Debutants Clinton Amukachi, Eugene Ojiambo, Daniel Kipchirchir, Rayvon Ambale, David Nyangige, Elton Amalemba, Arnold Agonda, Victor Mola, and Arnold Muita will all be looking to make their mark in their first Safari Sevens appearance.
Head Coach Kevin Wambua expressed confidence in the selected group, highlighting the importance of the tournament in nurturing future national team players.
“This year’s Safari 7s is not just about showcasing talent, but about building depth and testing combinations as we prepare for bigger challenges ahead. The blend of experience and debutants gives us balance, and the home fans can expect a feast of rugby,” he said.
The Morans will be aiming to maintain Kenya’s strong tradition at the annual Safari Sevens, which returns once again as one of the most anticipated events on the local rugby calendar.
