Menengai Oilers booked their spot in the Christie 7s Cup semifinals after a convincing 26-10 win over Nondescripts in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
Dan Kichirchir was the star of the show, grabbing a brace of tries to put Oilers firmly in control. Denis Abukuse and speedster Bildad Ogeta added one apiece, while Clarckson Keegan calmly slotted in the conversions to complete the tally.
Nondies, who had shown flashes of promise earlier in the day, found it tough to break through Oilers’ organized defense, managing just two unconverted tries in reply.
The victory now sets up a mouthwatering semifinal clash against Strathmore Leos, who swept aside Catholic Monks 29-7 in another quarterfinal. On the other end of the draw, defending champions KCB marched on with a 27-0 win over Daystar Falcons, while hosts Kenya Harlequin edged out their neighbors Impala 17-10 in a tightly contested duel.
That means the semifinal line-up is now complete: Oilers will lock horns with Strathmore Leos, while KCB square off against Quins in what promises to be a thrilling battle for a place in the Christie 7s final.
A new winner will now be crowned after defending champions Kabras failed to reach cup quarters.
