Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru has named a formidable starting XV as they prepare to host Nakuru RFC in the Kenya cup round five action dubbed ‘Nakuru Derby, set for Saturday, January 17, at the Refinery Grounds in Nakuru.
Weru has opted for Destrious Ifedha, Celestine Mboi and Vincent Mwikhali to form a solid front row while Captain Ibrahim Ayoo and Charles Osgood pair up in the second row, the back row trio of Samuel Were, Amos Obae and Chrispine Shitundo provides breakdown intensity and ball-carrying presence.
The half-back partnership sees youngster Collins Okoth start his first ever Kenya cup match for Oilers at scrum-half with Samuel Mwaura pulling the strings at fly-half. In the midfield Samwel Ovwamu partners Philip Okeyo who faces his immediate former employer.
The wings have been trusted by Beldad Ogeta and Timothy Omela, with Abwalib Wesonga slotting in at fullback to marshal the back three.
The Oilers bench offers significant depth, with Fortune Aturo, Byrone Cornel, Victor Were and Jadah Abdo among the forwards ready to make an impact, while Elkeans Musonye, Andrew Odero, Brian Achacha and Alvin Khavoli provide backline cover.
The Nakuru-based side will be keen to capitalize on home advantage as they take on an Nakuru with Kick-off scheduled for 4:PM.
