Record Enterprise Cup champions Nondies RFC booked their place in the Enterprise Cup semifinals with a 29–13 victory over Uganda’s KOBs in the early kickoff at the Nakuru Showground on Saturday.
What began as a bruising, forward-heavy contest quickly revealed the tone for the afternoon. Both packs went straight to work at the set piece, trading blows in the scrum and breakdown. It was KOBs who struck first, applying early pressure that forced Nondies into defensive infringements. The hosts were reduced to 14 men after repeated scrum penalties, and KOBs made the advantage count. Centre Rasul Abiriga calmly slotted a penalty to open the scoring and give the visitors a deserved early lead.
But Nondies, seasoned and unflustered, absorbed the pressure and gradually worked their way back into the contest. Their response was measured rather than frantic, tightening up at the breakdown and waiting for their moment to strike. When it came, it came decisively.
A seemingly harmless KOBs grubber kick turned into a turning point. Nondies loosehead prop James Kubasu showed remarkable pace for a front-rower, linking up in open play before powering over the line. Kelvin Sheunda added the conversion, flipping the scoreboard and momentum in one swift passage of play.
From there, Nondies began to take control. Territory and possession shifted in their favour, and Sheunda’s boot stretched the lead further with a penalty, giving the hosts breathing room heading into halftime. The physical edge of the contest remained, but Nondies now had a firm grip on proceedings.
The second half followed a similar script—tight, confrontational, and unforgiving. KOBs refused to go away, and Abiriga once again narrowed the gap with another penalty as their pack found better footing. For a brief spell, the contest hung in the balance.
Defensive intensity took over, with both sides trading heavy hits and fighting for inches at the breakdown. But experience told in the closing stages.
Sensing space out wide, Sheunda executed a perfectly weighted cross-kick that found Victor Rogena, who finished confidently in the corner. Though the conversion missed, the score created clear daylight between the sides.
Nondies were not done yet. With the game slipping away from KOBs, the hosts delivered the final blow through a slick handling sequence that ended with Charles Omondi crossing the line. This time, Sheunda added the extras, putting a seal on a commanding performance.
