Nine teams have so far confirmed participation for the inaugural Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Women’s 10-a-side Festival, set to be staged on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

The historic festival marks another great milestone in the growth of women’s rugby in Kenya, offering a competitive platform for both established and emerging teams as the union continues to widen participation and talent pathways in the women’s game.

Teams that have formally reached out and expressed interest include Gilgil based outfit Pioneer Rugby Club, Quins Queens,Kenya Cup defending champions Mwamba Women, Blad Babes, NYS Spade, Kiamba Ladies, Northern Suburbs, and Murang’a Ladies. Kisii University have also shown interest and are expected to confirm their participation in due course.

The one-day festival will bring together sides from different regions as teams battle for early bragging rights in the short-format version of the game. Organisers believe the 10s format will offer fast-paced action while allowing squads to rotate players and manage workloads effectively.
