Mwamba RFC head coach Paul Murunga has named his 23-man squad ahead of the team’s crucial encounter against USIU Martials, set for Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the USIU Grounds with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 pm.
The ex Kenya 7s tactician has blended experience with youthful energy, handing five players their competitive debuts as kulabu looks to make a strong statement away from home in the first fixture of the year 2026.
Leading the pack is Joseph Gitoi, who starts at loosehead prop, with experienced Bruce Shiemi and Kevin Juma completing the front row. The engine room will be marshalled by Christopher Asira and Ian Wamalwa, while the back row features the industrious trio of Douglas Opani, Humphrey Wambui, and debutant Amon Bwambok, who will start at number eight.
At halfback, Charles Chege pairs with debutant Gideon Makumi, tasked with controlling the tempo against the Martials. The backline sees pace and flair through Shaquel Bosire, Edwin Watulo, Laban Chege, Joseph Odoyo, and Dennis Ndayala at fullback.
Murunga has also named a strong bench, with debut opportunities for Jerry Okoth, Brian Omani, and Kelly Omari, as Mwamba looks to maintain intensity throughout the contest.
With fresh faces eager to impress and experienced heads providing leadership, Mwamba RFC will be aiming for a disciplined and spirited performance in Nairobi as they seek to get their third win of the season.
