Mombasa RFC return to action this weekend with a named squad for their crucial KRU championship encounter against Western Bulls, set for Saturday, January 31 at the Bull Ring in Kakamega.
The coastal side will be keen to shake off rust after missing out on competitive action last weekend, having been handed a walkover in their Round Six fixture against Kisii RFC. That enforced break means Mombasa head into the Western Bulls test refreshed, but aware of the challenge that awaits against a physical Bulls outfit on their home turf.
Head coach Anthony Ndegwa has named captain Alvin Karani to lead the side from the front row, partnering Amos Lunalo and Jacob Tinga in the tight five, with Tommy Happy and Floater Aaron completing the pack.
In the back row, Agalomba Dan, Elias Obuyu and Kim Kuloba provide muscle and mobility, while the half-back pairing of Dennis Njaguru and Kelvin Chege will be tasked with controlling the tempo. The backline features Jared Osindi, Abdul Sadiq, Samuel Mutua and Hillary Munga, with Collins Amayo starting at fullback.
The bench offers solid cover, including Roy Auko, Victor Akach and Lewa Martin among the replacements, as Mombasa look to make impact off the bench in the latter stages.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00pm at the Bull Ring, Kakamega.
