The Kenya Cup and KRU Championship enter a two-week break, but rugby action will still be on the cards this weekend as rescheduled fixtures involving MMUST RFC and South Coast Pirates take place across the country.
In Kakamega, MMUST RFC will finally host Daystar Falcons in a KRU Championship clash that had initially been slated for November 29th 2025. The two university sides mutually agreed to postpone the fixture due to examination commitments at their respective institutions.
With the academic calendars now cleared, the match has been reset for this Saturday, giving both teams an opportunity to return focus to league duties. MMUST will be keen to capitalize on home advantage, while Daystar Falcons travel west seeking valuable points in the standings.
Meanwhile, at the Coast, South Coast Pirates will welcome Kisii RFC to Diani in another rescheduled encounter.
The tie had originally been pencilled in for 15th November 2025 but was pushed forward following a request from Kisii RFC, who cited logistical challenges. Both clubs agreed to move the fixture to February 7th 2026.
Pirates head into the match targeting a return to winning ways in front of their home supporters after a dissapointing 26-21 loss to JKUAT Courgars last weekend in Diani.
The two fixtures come at a time when the Kenya Cup and Championship competitions have temporarily halted to pave way for the HSBC Sevens Division 2 tournament.
The event, scheduled for February 14th–15th in Nairobi, marks a historic moment as teams battle for qualification and greater exposure on the international sevens pathway.
With top-flight fifteens rugby paused, the spotlight this weekend shifts to Kakamega and Diani, where the rescheduled matches ensure the domestic calendar remains active ahead of the sevens showcase in the capital.
