Malala 7s Pools Set as Teams Gear Up for Inaugural Showdown

The pools for the inaugural Malala 7s rugby tournament have been confirmed ahead of the two-day competition scheduled for December 30–31 at the Bull Ring in Kakamega.

Hosts Western Bulls RFC headline Pool A and will be eager to use home advantage as they take on Mumias RFC, Shinyalu Wailers RFC and Ikonyero Foxes in what promises to be a tightly contested group.

Pool B sees Lurambi Young Boys FMRFC come up against Vihiga Granites, Bukura RFC and Shamberere Technical RFC, with all four sides expected to battle hard for the knockout spots.

Pool C is arguably the toughest of the lot, featuring Kenya Cup side MMUST RFC alongside seasoned outfits Bungoma RFC and Mbale RFC. Rough Machines complete the pool, adding further bite to an already competitive group.

In Pool D, Busia Border Rucks RFC, Sigalagala RFC, Webuye RFC and Makunga Urban will square off, with each side fancied to spring surprises as they chase progression to the business end of the tournament.

With the pools now set, anticipation continues to build as teams fine-tune preparations for what promises to be an exciting first edition of the Malala 7s, the event is organized by former Kakamega county senator Hon. Cleophas Malala.
