Lugulu RFC on Saturday hosted neighbours Malaba RFC at their home ground in a rugby development programme aimed at nurturing grassroots talent and promoting the growth of the game.
The event brought together young players, coaches and fans for a full day of age-grade action, beginning with a colourful U12 boys’ and girls’ curtain-raiser that set the tone for the showcase.
In the Girls’ U16 (JSS) 7s match, Lugulu delivered a composed performance to beat Malaba 28–7. The hosts continued their dominance in the Boys’ U16 encounter, recording a 35–14 victory.
The Boys’ U18 clash was the most closely fought contest of the day, with both teams showing tactical discipline and resilience to settle for a 14–14 draw.
The programme concluded with a Men’s U19 10-a-side match, where Lugulu edged Malaba 21–14 to cap off a successful development-focused rugby event.
