Lionesses Roar at Home As Safari 7s Kicks Off

Kenya Lionesses kicked off their 2025 Safari 7s campaign in style, securing an emphatic win at Nyayo Stadium to restore national pride after the Kenya Cubs fell to Shogun Ladies in their opening match. The victory also came as Uganda narrowly edged out Belgium in a tense encounter.

In the opening fixtures of the women’s category, the Kenya Cubs were outclassed 32–5 by Shogun, while Uganda staged a dramatic 12–10 comeback against first-time participants Belgium.

The Lionesses made their intentions clear from the start, opening the scoring to take an early 5–0 lead against Tunisia. The hosts then extended their advantage to 10–0 with a quick tap that caught the Tunisian defense off guard.

They continued to dominate as another try stretched the lead to 15–0 before a brilliant run added a fourth, followed by a successful conversion to make it 22–0. A smooth pass from a debutant player set up the fifth try, pushing the score to 27–0.

The determined Lionesses were not done yet, adding a sixth converted try to make it 34–0. Tunisia, however, managed a late consolation in the dying moments, converting successfully to close the game at 34–7.
