Mwamba RFC bounced back to winning ways with a 41-5 result in the KRU championship week three fixture against Western bulls at the Goan Institute,Nairobi.
Kenya 7s international youngster Eugene Ojiambo opened the scoring just five minutes in, converting his own try for a 7–0 lead. Allan Gumbo soon extended Kulabu’s advantage with a well-worked finish, Ojiambo adding the extras for 14–0.
Moments later, Brian Kahura sliced through for Mwamba’s third try, though Ojiambo’s conversion drifted wide, leaving the scores at 19–0. Twenty minutes into the contest, Mwamba were awarded a penalty, and Ojiambo calmly slotted it for a 22–0 cushion. Kulabu maintained control to take a comfortable lead into the break.
After the restart, Paul Murunga’s charges came out even sharper. Ian Andaje dotted down in the far corner for an unconverted try, stretching the lead to 27–0. Andanje soon completed his brace, this time grounding off a dominant maul, with Ojiambo converting for a 34–0 scoreline.
The visitors finally responded with a center-post try, but the conversion rattled off the crossbar for 34–5.
Mwamba fullback Shaquel Bosire then put the result beyond doubt with a late try, Ojiambo converting to seal a 41–7 full-time victory.
Speaking after the match, head coach Paul “Pau” Murunga hailed his charges for a disciplined and clinical performance, praising their work rate and improved execution across both halves.
The result marks a strong response for Kulabu, who bounced back just a week after their narrow 19–22 loss to Kisii. The win injects renewed confidence into the squad as Mwamba now turn their attention to their next assignment an Enterprise Cup showdown against Blak Blad.
