Kisumu name squad to face KCB in round two clash

After a 32-12 defeat to Nondies in their opening match of the season, Kisumu RFC are eager to bounce back when they host league leaders KCB RFC tomorrow.

Coach Howard Okwemba has named a strong squad as the team looks to find rhythm and claim their first win of the campaign.

Up front, the Kisumu pack will be anchored by Felix Omondi at loosehead prop, with Tevin Tiema holding the tighthead position. Leading the charge in the engine room are locks Brian David and Ben Maxwell, while Robert Awich and Robert Murunga will marshal the back row alongside co-captain Bony Okoth, providing both defensive grit and ball-carrying power. Hooker and captain Christopher Otieno will be pivotal in set-piece execution and leadership on the field.

In the halves, scrum-half Walter Ambe will link play with fly-half Aggrey Kittoi, tasked with directing the attack and exploiting gaps in the KCB defense. The midfield combination of Bavol Otieno and Byron Orimbo promises both creativity and stability, while the wings, Marcellus Oduori and Ted Okal, offer pace and finishing power. Godfrey Namai will patrol the backfield at fullback, ready to counter-attack and provide support across the field.

Kisumu’s bench is stocked with versatile options, including prop Marcus Otieno and hooker Manuel Weyusia, as well as backrow cover in Ronald Bekker and Elvis Odhiambo. Utility backs Ellie Mboya, Fifa Tao, John Omito, and Austin Ochieng provide depth and flexibility as Kisumu looks to adapt mid-game if needed.
