Kisumu Girls High School rugby team have taken their excellence from the pitch to the classroom after recording impressive results in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The school confirmed that all seven candidates drawn from the rugby team attained the minimum university entry grade, translating to a 100 per cent transition to university, a rare feat that underscores the growing link between sport and academic success.
Leading the pack was Sara Adhiambo (Form 4V) and Joan Ogutu (form 4P) who both posted an A-, while Prudence Nanjala (form 4V) followed closely with a B+. Valentine Weke (form 4V) earned a B, as Joy Usaji (form 4V) posted a B-. The list was completed by Sophie Atieno (form 4V) and Sheryl Majiwa (form 4G), who both scored C+.
Collectively, the rugby team registered a mean grade of 9.0, an outcome that reflects discipline, teamwork and balance between sport and studies.
As the players now prepare for university life, the results serve as inspiration to upcoming student-athletes across the country, reinforcing the idea that sport and education can thrive side by side.
