Kisii School Crowned East Africa Rugby 15s Champions After Edging All Saints

Kisii School were crowned the new East Africa Rugby 15s champions after defeating defending champions All Saints Embu in a tightly contested final played at the Bullring Grounds in Kakamega.

The clash lived up to its billing, with both sides displaying great rugby and determination before Kisii edged the Embu based outfit 11-6 to claim their first-ever regional crown.

Matrix Matangi opened the scoring for Kisii with a well-taken penalty, giving his side a 3-0 lead. All Saints responded in kind, drawing level at 3-3 to keep the game finely balanced.

Matangi once again stepped up with another penalty to push Kisii 6-3 ahead, but the defending champions showed their resilience by leveling matters at 6-6.

With the game hanging in the balance, Isaac Mageto produced the decisive moment, diving over the whitewash to score a try that sealed Kisii’s historic 11-6 victory.

Elsewhere, Uganda’s Jinja SS finished third after a nail-biting 13-12 win over Upper Hill, while Vihiga High School claimed fifth place to round off the competition.

The win marks a major milestone for Kisii School, who dethroned the reigning champions in front of a charged Kakamega crowd to etch their name in East African schools rugby history.
