Central Region champions Kinale Girls made a commanding start to their KSSSA Girls’ 15s National campaign in Kisumu, brushing aside St. Joseph’s Girls (Joga) with a dominant performance on Day One of the competition at Kisumu Polytechnic.
Kinale set the tone early, with Josphine Kerubo crossing over in the first half to hand her side a narrow 5-0 lead at the break in a tightly contested opening stanza.
However, the Allan Bush-led side returned from halftime with renewed intensity, taking full control of the match. Everlyn Barongo, Hellen Wanjiku, and Rose Waithera each dotted down in the second half while flyhalf Diana Wanjiku added the extras, calmly slotting in a conversion to cap off a convincing victory for the Central Region heavyweights.
Kinale will now turn their attention to a crucial Day Two clash against Coast Region representatives Paul Harris School tomorrow morning.
The KSSSA games officially kicked off today in Kisumu, with several other matches producing notable results.
Paul Harris beat Sidindi 20-3, Mwira saw off St. Theresa Embu 12-0, and Mbagathi edged Sigoti 17-10 in other Day One results.
