Kinale, St Joseph Reign Supreme in KSSSA Rugby 7s Opener

The 2025 KSSSA National Rugby 7s Championship kicked off in style in Kakamega, with Kinale High School and St Joseph’s Secondary emerging as the teams to beat after registering big victories on day one.

Kinale were in a league of their own, putting up a breathtaking display opening their account with a massive 52-0 win over Kimobo.

Their second match was no different. Facing Igoji, Kinale continued their free-scoring form with a 47-0 demolition, making it back-to-back shutouts while racking up a whopping 99 points scored without conceding a single try.

On the other side, reigning national 7s champions St Joseph’s girls Kitale-JOGA also maintained a perfect record on the opening day. They began with a convincing 22-0 win over Eregi.

Their second match was even more emphatic running riot 47-0 over Gituamba.

Nyanza’s Sigoti Secondary impressed with two hard-fought wins, starting with a 15-10 victory over Gituamba and following it up with a gritty 10-0 win against Eregi.

Western region reps Mwira Secondary also made a statement, thumping Karen C 36-0 in one of the most one-sided affairs of the afternoon.
