Former Menengai Oilers forward Clinton Odhiambo, fondly known as Salah, has hit the ground running in his Canadian rugby adventure with Burnaby Lake RFC.
Odhiambo, who has previously been capped by the Kenya Simbas made his debut on September 15 2025 against the University of British Columbia (UBC), a game that set the tone for what looks to be a promising stint abroad. Salah crossed the whitewash for his first try in Burnaby colors and put in a commanding all-round performance that earned him the Man of the Match award. The clash ended in a 30–30 draw, leaving Burnaby with plenty of positives despite not sealing victory.
That breakthrough win came a week later. Last Saturday at MacDonald Park, Burnaby Lake fought hard to edge past James Bay with a 29–24 victory, their first Premier League win of the season. Once again, Salah was at the heart of the action, producing another standout display that earned him a second consecutive Man of the Match recognition. His physical presence, work rate, and attacking instinct have quickly made him a key figure in the side.
Next up for Salah and Burnaby is a trip to Connaught Park to face Meraloma Rugby, where the forward will be keen to extend his fine form.
